Of course, Krabi’s viewpoints include some well-known ones such as the Tiger Cave Temple or the Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint. But if you can spend some time in the region, there are even more of Krabi’s viewpoints to discover. Here, we introduce 8 viewpoints in Krabi that you should not miss.
Accommodation in Ao Nang – our hotel tip
The selection of accommodation in Ao Nang and the surrounding area is huge. We have stayed several times in Ao Nang and tried some different hotels. Since we are always traveling there by scooter, it doesn’t bother us personally if the accommodation is a bit further from the beach. This way you have peace and seclusion and can totally relax. Very suitable for this is the Deevana Krabi Resort, which is located in the middle of a beautiful green area. Both beaches, the Ao Nang Beach and the Noppharat Thara Beach, are just minutes away by taxi or scooter.

You can discover more beautiful accommodations in Ao Nang here.
1. Tiger Cave Temple
The Wat Tham Sua, as the Tiger Cave Temple is actually called, is located a little outside of Krabi Town and is a popular excursion destination. Built in 1975, the temple is especially impressive for its huge golden Buddha statue at the top. To get there, however, you have to climb 1,237 steps, which have made many visitors break a sweat.

Once at the top, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of Krabi Town, the surrounding area, and the sea. It is rightly one of the most popular viewpoints in Krabi, and you should not miss it on a trip to Krabi. You can find more information about visiting it in our article about the Tiger Cave Temple in Krabi.
2. Ao Nang Monkey Trail
Even though this is not an official viewpoint in Krabi, we still want to mention the Monkey Trail. It leads you from the beach in Ao Nang to neighboring Pai Plong Beach, the beach where the beautiful Centara Grand hotel is located.

To find the Monkey Trail, go to the eastern end of Ao Nang Beach and walk up the stairs into the jungle. Watch out for the monkeys! The name Monkey Trail is fitting because you can encounter quite a few of them here. Hold on tightly to your belongings – sometimes the monkeys try to steal them. As you walk along the developed path to Pai Plong Beach, you will keep getting beautiful views of the sea. That is why we are also including the Monkey Trail among Krabi’s viewpoints.
3. The Hilltop Ao Nang
If you drive from Ao Nang Beach toward Noppharat Tara Beach, a road on the right leads up the mountain where many hotels are located. This is also where Ao Nang Hilltop is found, one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Krabi for sunset.

The Hilltop offers a great view toward the sea, delicious food, and a large selection of drinks. You can reserve a table in advance if you would like to eat. However, if you are only coming for sunset and a drink, you can stop by without a reservation. It is open daily from 4.00 PM to 10.00 PM. But the best time to visit The Hilltop is definitely sunset.
4. Mountain Buddha Temple (A Hidden Gem Among Krabi’s Viewpoints)
The next Krabi viewpoint on our list is the Mountain Buddha Temple. It is a bit hidden, still relatively new, and therefore largely unknown. To find it, you need to drive out of Ao Nang toward Tesco Lotus. A little farther on, turn right toward Makro Supermarket and Ao Nam Mao. Shortly after that, there is a small path on the right-hand side, and at the end of it you will see the Mountain Buddha Temple.

Here, you can climb the stairs and, besides admiring countless statues on site, also enjoy a fantastic view over Krabi. The Mountain Buddha Temple is definitely still a hidden gem among Krabi’s viewpoints and well worth a visit if you have some time.
5. Railay Viewpoint
On the Railay Peninsula, you can visit another viewpoint in Krabi. The way there is a bit more difficult, but definitely manageable. You should be careful in any case when climbing up to Railay Viewpoint, and sturdy shoes are also a big advantage.

You will find the ascent at the southern end of Railay Beach East when you follow the path toward Phra Nang Cave Beach. The ascent is on the left-hand side, but it is not developed. That means you will have to climb along steep tree roots.
Once at the top, it is only a few more minutes on foot before you reach Railay Viewpoint. It offers a dreamy view of Railay, the limestone cliffs, and Tonsai Beach. During our visit, the viewpoint was not crowded, but depending on the season, you may run into a few tourists there and then possibly have to wait a little for a good photo opportunity. But it is worth it!
6. Chicken Island Viewpoint
Off the coast of Krabi lies the small island of Koh Gai, also known as Chicken Island. It is connected to the neighboring island of Koh Tub by a sandbank, at least at low tide. Both are popular destinations for a day trip from Ao Nang, whether by longtail boat or on an organized tour.

Opposite the sandbank to Tub Island, there is a small climb up the hill that leads to Chicken Island Viewpoint. This Krabi viewpoint offers a beautiful view of Tub Island and Koh Poda in the background, as well as the limestone cliffs of the coast in Ao Nang. When visiting the island during a trip to Ao Nang, you should not skip this viewpoint.
7. Dragon Crest Mountain
The Khao Ngon Nak, Dragon Crest Mountain, is the highlight among Krabi’s viewpoints. But at the same time, it is also the hardest one to reach. To enjoy the fantastic view over Ao Nang and Krabi’s landscape, you first have a two-hour hike through the jungle ahead of you.

The trail in Had Noppharat Thara National Park is well-trodden, so you do not have to worry about getting lost. However, it can get very strenuous in the heat and high humidity. You can find out how our hike went in our article about Dragon Crest Mountain.
8. Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint
Koh Phi Phi is well known to many because of the movie The Beach and is divided into two islands. On the larger island, Koh Phi Phi Don, you will find one of the most beautiful Krabi viewpoints. The viewpoint is easy to find. Just follow the signs. After climbing some stairs, you have to pay a 20 baht entrance fee, and after just a few more meters, you can admire Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint 1.

From there, it is only a few minutes on foot to Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint 2. This is definitely one of the Krabi viewpoint highlights, with a fantastic view of Koh Phi Phi Don and Koh Phi Phi Leh in the background. Here, you can clearly see just how narrow Koh Phi Phi Don really is in the middle and how the island is framed by the sea. Fantastic!
