Khanom is still a small place on Thailand’s east coast. It remains in the shadow of the major tourist centers in the Gulf of Thailand, such as Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, or Koh Tao. However, if you’re looking for peace and beautiful beaches, this is the right place for you. Everything is not quite as expensive, which is why you can still find cheap hotels in Khanom that can be real bargains. There are even accommodations under €50 per night that are still really beautiful.

Our 7 Tips for Budget Hotels in Khanom

With our 7 tips for affordable accommodations in Khanom, which we’ve already used ourselves as an overnight option, we want to help you make the right choice. In the quiet and still little-visited town of Khanom, you can find a great place to stay on a smaller budget than in the more expensive tourist destinations in Thailand, sometimes right on one of the beautiful Khanom beaches.

How to Get To Khanom

Getting to Khanom can be a bit more challenging, at least if you don’t have your own vehicle. You can fly from many Thai cities, including Bangkok, to the nearest major cities, Surat Thani or Nakhon Si Thammarat. Check prices and times on Skyscanner for that.

If you don’t want to fly, you can travel by train or bus to Surat Thani. From Surat Thani or Nakhon Si Thammarat, the journey usually continues with a private transfer. A complete minivan costs around €40-50 and takes you directly to your destination. You can book it in advance, for example, at 12go.asia.

With your own vehicle, as mentioned, it’s even easier. The road network is well-developed, and you can be in Khanom in 1.5 to 2 hours from Surat Thani or Nakhon Si Thammarat. Google Maps will show you the way and worked for us without any problems.
