Koh Samui is one of the places we always return to. When I was back there in November 2017, I spent two nights at the Amari Koh Samui on Chaweng Beach.
Hotel Review: Amari Koh Samui
Every year Koh Samui attracts many tourists, as all the paradise beaches and lots of activities on Koh Samui make the island a great vacation spot.
In this review I would like to introduce you to the Amari Koh Samui, because the selection of hotels on Koh Samui is very large and therefore sometimes confusing for first-time visitors. If you are on vacation on the island, this article may help you to decide which accommodation to choose.
Location
The Amari Koh Samui is situated at the northern part of Chaweng Beach with direct access to the ocean. Within walking distance of the vibrant area of Chaweng, the Amari still offers tranquility. The hotel is split in two parts by the Chaweng Beach Road, but some of the staff members are stopping passing vehicles and help guests to cross the street.
The Amari Koh Samui’s central location is great for exploring the nightlife of Chaweng. You also have an amazing variety of food options nearby and on the Chaweng Beach Road you can as well find many shops selling clothes, souvenirs or more.
The direct location on Chaweng Beach is very nice and so you can also reach the hotel via the beach. Furthermore, it’s only 15 minutes by car to get to the airport or pier to take one of the boats to the neighboring islands or to the mainland. An ideal place to explore Koh Samui and especially Chaweng.
The Amari Koh Samui
The complex of the Amari Koh Samui is well maintained and arranged. It offers you everything you need for a relaxing stay. Starting with the friendly staff and swift check-in, your vacation begins as soon as you enter the Amari Koh Samui.
There are two large swimming pools for both areas of the hotel. A pool right on Chaweng Beach next to Amaya Café where you can also find the daily breakfast buffet and a pool in the Thai Village across the street. Perfect to wind down.
During the daytime, the Amaya Café also provides a place to retreat and enjoy a slice of cake or coffee.
But that’s not all you can discover and use in the Amari Koh Samui. There’s an air-conditioned lounge with computers and free internet access, a gym and if you’re traveling with kids, there is also a kids club to entertain the children.
By the way, I can absolutely recommend the Breeze Spa. Friendly service, great treatments in a pleasant atmosphere. Just right for some recreation.
The restaurants
Furthermore, the Amari Koh Samui offers two restaurants in Chaweng, which are not directly connected to the hotel, but actually belong to it. The first restaurant would be the Prego with an excellent Italian cuisine. From antipasto to pizza, pasta to steak, there is everything your heart desires. Great service and delicious food. Also just a few minutes walk from the Amari.
The second restaurant is located next to the partner hotel Ozo Chaweng, which belongs to the same group as the Amari. At Stacked Burger, as the name suggests, you will get fantastic burgers. A free transfer at fixed times by the Amari is also offered.
The rooms
The Amari Koh Samui offers a total of 197 rooms in different categories such as Superior, Deluxe Thai Village, Deluxe Pool View, Grand Deluxe Ocean View and a Junior Suite.
Our accommodation was one of the Deluxe Pool View rooms in the Thai Village. The 39m² room is complemented with a great balcony overlooking the Thai Village and swimming pool.
The room has everything you need. Air conditioning, TV, refrigerator, a water kettle, minibar, desk and excellent WiFi, which is especially necessary as a blogger. It was renovated in 2016 and so the room is in a perfect condition.
Due to the large selection of rooms there is something for everyone with the right budget. Absolute feel-good factor with a well-kept garden in the middle of Chaweng. If you like it a little bit more decadent, then we can recommend the Junior Suites with sea view.
Conclusion
We had a great stay at the Amari Koh Samui, where we felt very comfortable. The overall atmosphere of the resort is great and despite the location in Chaweng, the liveliest part of Koh Samui, it’s really quiet. The possibilities that the Amari offers, as well as the whole environment are absolutely diverse and will not cause boredom.
If you are looking for a quiet hotel with direct beachfront location that is still not far from the nightlife and many other activities on Koh Samui, then the Amari Koh Samui is the right choice. We can totally recommend the hotel and would stay there again anytime.
