The two large historic mansions - Cheong Fatt Tze and the
Pinang Peranakan Mansion - are fabulous, especially the former, also known as the Blue Mansion. Plenty of information about the history of Penang as well as some really beautiful artefacts to look at. The Penang War Museum was also well worth the excursion - it's huge and also full of historical information about the various conflicts that have affected the area, but particularly the occupation by the Japanese in the second world war, all set within the amazing fortifications built by the British. The old town of Penang is interesting to wander around - but beware, it was hot season and there is very little shade to be found. I really wish I'd had an umbrella as well as my hat and long trousers and long sleeves. There is a really strong emphasis on street food here and it is of varying quality. A long queue doesn not necessarily indicate this is a good restaurant - it just means that it's been featured by someone online. So look at the food yourself and judge your own instincts if you think something looks worth trying. Auntie Gaek Leen's restaurant was the most interesting we tried - really lovely food.

surprise that Georgetown is on the list of UNESCO sites ... car traffic is high even in the smallest streets in the very center ... many small houses are rundown and new highrise buildings have been constructed even in the town center

Get up the hill on foot to see monkeys.
Get up the hill on foot to see monkeys. Anything else is a waste of money. Yet another british colonial style city. Just wonder around for cafes and get to your next destination. Know that for the ferry they strictly enforce an illegitimate NO CASH policy. After discussing 20 min I was given a useless local RFID transport card for 22 myr instead of the 4 myr needed for the one way ride. Do yourself a favour and get there with a Grab by the bridge to avoid this very low level treatment and queues to board the ferry among plentiful indian families.

George Town is a nice place with friendly people and a lot to visit.
I found the Tempel Khoo Kongsi just wonderful, I liked the Blue Mansion, a walk through the old George Town with its nice houses and small temples, the Clan Jetties. The Kapitan Keling Mosque was beautiful. I visited Penang Hill by train but the view was not clear and too many people as it was holiday time. To avoid long waiting lanes you can book in advance and pay a little bit more to get the fast lane.
In old George Town everything is in walking distance.
For longer distances I took the cheap Grab app taxis. Locals rcommended U mobile prepaid cards because others like Digi or Maxi's are often recycled cards that are already registered and can't use Grab app.
Next time I would avoid school holiday time and Chinese New Year because it's crowded.

I liked most is the Penang Hill, then Kek Lok Si Temple, then Batu Ferringhi, street food, massage at Pinang Spa House. However I don't like the traffic jam at sunset going to the beach. Also, I don't like the booked transport going back to KL from Penang. The bus company Maraliner switched the bus from double decker to ordinary bus. From 3 seater per row to cramped 4 seaters per row... And we have to endure 9 hours of traffic jam going to KL from Penang.

Friendly, helpful staff eager to please.
Friendly, helpful staff eager to please. Good location near variety of shops & street art. Comfortable & spacious room on the first floor with much needed airconditioning plus ceiling fan. Old style accommodation but charming & in clean state & well maintained except for a leaking tap in bathroom vanity unit. Tap only needed replacement washer. Free buffet breakfast food was good & outside scenery was appealing.
Very good location, easy to access everywhere around George Town.
Strong air conditioning which is great in this hot and humid weather.
Big room, big shower room, big sized bed and 2 toilets!
Very nice staff and great hospitality.
We were going to use laundry service by hotel but it was not good timing for us(They use laundry service with third party so need to give them before 5pm-6pm and will get cloths back next day afternoon). There is a laundry place behind hotel and looks new and easy to use.

Throughly enjoyed our stay at the Penang Marriott hotel. The service provided by Ivan and the team was exceptional. Everybody was attentive and nothing was too much trouble to make our stay even more special.
The location of the hotel perfect, away from the hustle of George Town. The hotel rooms good size and clean. Buffet breakfast offered a good variety of choice.
Would highly recommend this hotel to make stay in Penang extra special
The house and location is superb!
Clean and muji style of home design and furnishing. Love the furnishing for bedroom, bathroom as well as kitchen utensils etc. Really a hotel stay feel! the house is spacious and suit for family with children.
The location is so strategic and convenient for those who plan to visit George Town centre and attractions.
The owner is friendly and contactable at all time during the stay! 👍
I rarely provide reviews on hotels that i booked here, but this is an exception. OZO penang is reasonably priced but the room, location, facilities, views are just amazing. Pleasantly surprised. Will be my preferred hotel in Penang for the next business trips.
Well done Ozo Penang and the team!
Room facilities well functioned.
City views, pretty like in art painting.
Lift for car park.
Roti canai transfer road!
The hotel lobby area was great, the restaurant food was delicious. The room was clean and spacious, the location is amazing, and we found out that we could visit the other Bayview Hotel in Batu Ferringhi and use the pool with our key cards. The hotel is surrounded by a huge blend of various cultures and communities, and you can easily walk around and see many interesting things.
Always wanted to stay at 23 love lane and it finally happened. The small hotel is an oasis in the mids of George Town. The style of the hotel is taking you back in time, super relaxing and beautiful. The staff is beyond helpful, talkative, and nice. 23 Love Lane is very well located, within walking distance of food and sights.
Traditional hotel with comfortable rooms. Quiet too even though it’s close to the hustle and bustle of old George Town. Walked everywhere from here, the best food market just in front of the hotel and so cheap. Staff excellent, professional and very helpful. Always smiling!
All staff members were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The hotel itself is very beautiful, located in a prime spot in george town. The room is very clean and charming with its historical features. Would highly recommend anyone who visits george town to stay here!
This hotel is a gem in the old part of Little India. The building was a Chinese pharmacy redone as a boutique hotel. The staff are so relaxed, interesting conversationalists and knowledgeable. Hard to find such a unique hotel centrally located that is this quality.
Perfect vacation when we stay at this hotel, it's located at the center of George Town. spacious clean comfort room. Staffs are helpful and very friendly, Thanks to Ms. Sharmini.
definitely will stay at this hotel again when we would be back to Penang next trip.
The hotel is a lovely heritage hotel and it's ;location in George town was very central and easy to get around particularly if you like walking. Lots of Cafe's around with a range of cuisines. The staff are very friendly and willing to help at the drop of a hat.
Strategic location in/around George Town, close to Komtar and 1st Avenue. Walkable distance to the blue mansion. Availability of king sized beds. There's a small eatery that opens till past midnight nearby.
I like the location and the parking place outside the hotel.
Very convenient in George town and safe.
Parking staff is very friendly
The roof top dining is awesome
The breakfast food is delicious
Attentive, helpful staff (all of them). Comfortable, stylish. Large bedrooms. Well situated to visit the historic sites and interesting streets of George Town (20-25-minute walk to the former).
The room was spacious, the facilities and amenities are just what we needed for our short stay in George Town. The central location makes this the best choice for hotels in Penang.
