This was without exaggeration the most amazing resort I’ve ever been to. The hospitality of the staff and the quality of service was exceptional. The breakfast felt like a Michelin star restaurant, there are a lot of options and all of them absolutely delicious. The room is prepared twice a day, I especially liked how they prepare the room for sleep. The spa experience is just dreamlike. The staff welcomes you when you arrive with a kind gesture and everyday when you get back from your adventures they ask about your day with genuine curiosity. If you stay in you can relax at the pool where they serve you drinks and food at your sunbed or in the water.
All in all this place is perfect, and everyone who visits Ubud, must stay here.

I had a lovely stay at this beautiful property — it’s incredibly peaceful and quiet, perfect for unwinding. Getting to Ubud city center was super easy (I used Grab bikes), and while I didn’t use the free shuttle, it’s a great perk for those who want a hassle-free ride into town.
The bed was so comfortable — I slept like a dream! I also appreciated the twice-daily room maintenance, including a nice turndown service in the evening.
Breakfast was a real standout — absolutely incredible. I couldn’t get enough of the granola bowl and tofu scramble. I also had dinner at the on-site restaurant, The Botanist, which was delicious and super convenient when I wanted a relaxed night in.

Ubud is a great base to explore Bali, if you are not looking for a beach holiday. Lots of temples to see and a couple of world class art museums - ARMA and Neka with a fantastic mixture of modern and traditional Balinese art. You can book a car and driver for the day for US$40 and that opens up lots of possibilities - Bali Zoo, Bird park, stone, mask and wood carving workshops, other temples and the lovely Lake Batur. We had a car for 4 days and that worked really well. Group your activities south, or north of Ubud, as traffic through the city is very busy and always slow. Ubud has lots of excellent restaurants, as well as craft stalls and lots of small shops. We stayed for 10 days at Dewanggha Ubud, which was an excellent base close to the town centre

Ubud is not ubud, very sad.
Ubud is not ubud, very sad. They claim much money from you for service but the result is a flop. More money, but less maintenance of the amenities and the buildings. They are in ruined, I think they should be preserved as patrimonial assets.
Tourists are attacked by Javanese and the Government did nothing. Wake up!!!!

Was worried that it would have changed too much since precovid. It is much busier and aimed at rich tourists with all the food choices but still has a wonderful feel as so much of it is authentic. The traffic has increased but if you allow for that you can still find out of the way places and lovely people.

Accommodation is close to Ubud Palace, shopping markets, spas, cafes/restaurants, meeting points for tours. Ubud is busy with tourists and taxis but there is so much to do and see. I booked tours online to suit my interests: cooking class and firefly tour, batik class, making silver ring class, water purification at Tirta Empul. Also organised motorbike taxi to go to Elephant Temple, Monkey Forest, local markets and Tegenungan Waterfall.

Ubud is, without a doubt, one of the most special places I’ve ever visited. It’s a perfect mix of natural beauty, spiritual atmosphere, rich culture, and kind-hearted people. Surrounded by lush rice fields, waterfalls, temples, and forested hills, Ubud offers a sense of peace that’s hard to describe.
The city has a vibrant soul — from the local markets and traditional dance shows to the incredible food, yoga retreats, and art galleries. Every corner feels alive and inspiring. And the people… so friendly, warm, and welcoming. You feel safe, seen, and respected.
Ubud is not just a destination, it’s a feeling — and once you experience it, you’ll want to come back again and again. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for relaxation, culture, connection with nature, and inner peace.

Ubud is a busy centre of shopping is your thing but you can...
Ubud is a busy centre of shopping is your thing but you can get away from Main Street and the market ( ‘a living hell’ of tourist tat) and walk the side streets for more calm and nicer shops and genuine Balinese purchases.
The water temple and palace are worth a visit but lots of traffic, road works and repairs right now.
Use a Grab scooter to get a ride wherever you need to go (I chose XL for a little more comfort) as it’s easier than a car but just walk around the centre.
Lots of nice places to eat if you get away from the tourist traps on the Main Street.

We enjoyed our stay so much. We had a villa with private pool which was so relaxing. The staff are wonderful and would go out of their way to help and accommodate your needs. Breakfast was delicious. We appreciated the kitchen accommodating my daughters “off menu” requests for breakfast. The hotel is close to monkey forest so be aware that there are monkeys that like to visit in the afternoons. We found this, part of the overall charm. The day spa is also amazing. Overall, we loved our stay here and will definitely be back!
Woaaw the villa one bedroom with private pool is beyond amazing !!! This is the perfect Bali style out door. The swimming pool is huge a very beautiful.
The Alas Petulu hotel is the perfect place to stay in Ubud. Located in a quiet Street next to the City center where you will find all the bars, restaurant and shopping.
The staff a is lovely and always here to help.
We were actually sad when we had to leave the place, could stay there forever.
The best you can stay in Ubud area. The breakfast is excellent and covers all tastes. The staff is polite and willing to serve you. The facilities are around the mountain and the river in the nature. The spa and the team are experts. We stayed two people in the villa with private pool and mountain view. I highly recommend it! Thanks for the perfect stay Royal Pita Maha !
I have lived at Ibah before and I must say that it always delivers. The new management was exceedingly good. Good communication and solved some issues perfectly. I am very satisfied and will book at Ibah next time again. One of Ubud's best hotels in my opinion and I have lived at most of their competitors.
Unbelievable experience from start to finish. The villas they have are perfect combination of luxury and relaxation. All staff were friendly and knew you by name. One of the best hotels we have stayed in.
