Maintaining the Warmth
One can get a little nostalgic when talking about the development of Hua Hin. The first beachside resort town in Thailand was originally a small fishing village. It manages to maintain a laid-back atmosphere despite chain hotels invading the best vantage points along Hua Hin Beach.
The current King of Thailand, Bhumibol Adulyadej, spends much of his time here in the royal residence of Klai Kangwon Palace, built in 1927. The local Thai population have followed ever since as they escape the stifling heat of Bangkok.
Hin Lek Fai Hill provides the finest outlook of the bay and its 5 km-long stretch of beach. The central Hua Hin Night Market satisfies your wallet and your stomach with its mix of local souvenirs and freshly cooked seafood.
These days there is a distinctive cosmopolitan flair to the city with many restaurants and hotels purveying a European influence. It is also less hectic than Pattaya, the rival beach resort on the other side of the Bay of Thailand.

Stunning City, full of character, with the night markets, bars and restaurants. The beach is beautiful, clean white fluffy sand, and a calm sea to cool off. Plenty of shade on beach, and lots of sun beds, and food vendors. The hotels around the Clock tower area, were a great location, which enabled walking to most locations of interest. Food choices are plenty, both local and European.

Hua Hin offers so much to travellers of all kinds, from high end resorts, restaurants and cafes to quality and well priced backpacker hostels. There is enough around town to keep you busy for a few days, like nice beaches, scenic views, fishing village and waterfront or beach restaurants. Great beach and night market. Big choice of food. Downside was a bit seedy with massage parlours and sex trade on certain streets of the old town. Bus stations not very central though minivan did stop in centre though it took a while to track them down

The beach is small and unexciting, very tidal and usable bits are packed with people. There are no real promenades and Hua Hin spreads about 14 Km along the seafront requiring extensive use of taxis. Best to book accommodation near the centre Centre and night market area are OK but limiting. Good selection of restaurants at reasonable prices Roads are constantly busy and pavements are very poor Good and reasonable bus connection direct to Bangkok airport
